Artist's Comments

Archie drew and named himself. I owe it to him to finish him up right purdy.

So long as he's still in his pencil stage, I implore you on bended knee.

PLEASE give me the most thorough critique you can! Be harsh, be cruel if you must, I promise nothing you say will offend me.

Thanks for reading this far, guys!

P.S- I have no idea if an actual St. Archibald exists. This Archie is based on no one.

Oh, man. o-o Wow. That is amazing anatomy! Seriously! I stared at it and stared at it, because I want to help you by critique, and it took me a while to honestly find anything. The butt -- or thigh? Back of the hip? WHAT IS IT?! -- seems to have a bump that I know is a bone, but it just looks a little odd. o-o And the neck, too, but I think that might be natural. I haven't seen anyone in that position recently and naked for the benefit of seeing how the body moves exactly, so. xD I would have to look it up!

But man, this really looks good. The bend at the knee, too... I think where the two muscles/parts of the leg (WOW AM I GOOD WITH WORDS RIGHT NOW, LOLOLOL) meet, the line should maybe curve a little bit more downwards (like the bottom half of a circle, but not quit so far against the back of the knee, so only part of the circle!), so that it shows the top of the leg isn't being overwhelmed by the lower. I hope I make sense! My brain is not working right.

It really looks amazing so far.<3 I cannot wait to see it finished.

Thanks for the detailed comment! xD And I can understand you, no worries. The upper leg did sort of lose itself to the lower, I see what you mean. I've also noticed a couple other things to fix~

*rando-hugs back* ...Although, since this is a return-hug, it isn't quite so random, is it?

From here the anatomy looks really good. The resolution is a bit too low for me to go into greater detail on that point because I'm not sure what's going on with the back of the neck. But you've got a good foundation image here. Look up some image references for bird wings, and I bet you'll find that you'll have to draw a lot less individual feathers. Add some shading and finish up the line work and this'll be rockin'. Excellent work.

Thanks very much for the feedback! Especially about the individual feathers; I'm never sure how much I can omit. I'll be sure to incorperate your advice in the finished product.

Gorgeous sketch, the anatomy's spot on and the figure's incredibly dynamic. A a creature designer, the only critiques I have are that with the apparent mass this figure has, he'd need a much larger wingspan to be able to fly. Also while I really like how you've exaggerated his deltoids and trapezius, you could probably go more extreme. His back muscle would have to be huge to get him aloft.

But then again, Archie's an angel, so as far as the character goes you can take some stylistic liberties. I mean hell, if he's an otherworld creature or part of the heavenly host, who says earth physics even apply to his flight...

Once again, amazing work, can't wait to see it finished.
